Eric Foster

Eric lives in Hindhead and attends school in Haslemere. He joined the Town Band in 2005 and won their Most Improved Junior Member's Cup in 2006. He is also a member of the South West Surrey Youth Orchestra and studies the trombone with Mark Cardy of Surrey County Arts. In 2006 he joined the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain, under the baton of Dr Nicholas Childs, being taught by Brett Baker of the Black Dyke Band. In 2007 he joined the National Children’s Orchestra (under 13s) being tutored by Christopher Mowat.He regularly participates in the Godalming Music Festival, playing either trombone or piano, and has won the Horsley Cup (2004), the John Smith Cup (2004), the Bach Cup (2005), and the Recital Challenge Cup (2006). Eric is a member his local amateur operatic society (the Haslemere Players) and in 2005 his portrayal of Tom Thumb in Barnum (which included a trombone solo) won him the National Operatic and Dramatic Association's Best Youth Actor award. He also played Louis Leonowens in The King and I (2006) and Jack Thayer in Titanic – The Musical (2007).
