On my retirement from teaching after being involved in music in various schools throughout my career, I decided I would like to play in a band and took up the cornet. I come from a family of brass players but this was not a female domain in my formative years. I joined the Training Band ten years ago and was soon asked to play third cornet for a band trip to Bernay. Consequently I moved into the main band and presently play second cornet. Throughout most of my time with the band, I have been involved in committee work and various organisational matters as well as helping with the training band. I have found it a very rewarding hobby.
