At the opening ceremony of the Charter Fair the Mayor of Haslemere, Mrs Jacquie Keene, presented the new Music Stand Banners to Graham Ingram Chairman of Haslemere Town Band.
The new banners were purchased with the aid of a grant from Haslemere Town Council.
The previous banners were produced by supporters of the Band and have given over 20 years service, but are now the worse for wear and looking their age.
The colourful new banners feature the Haslemere Town Crest and were designed and produced through the collaboration of three local companies. The banners were designed by Tony Hinwood of the Grayshott firm Tony Hinwood Associates. These were designed for free because his daughter Claire is the Principal Cornet of Haslemere Town Band.
The embroidery took over 76,000 intricate stitches and was produced by "Design to Order", a Haslemere company run by Peter and Jane Larkin. The embroidered material was then made up into banners by The Angela Moss Collection from Liphook.
The original banners (of 20 years ago) were produced by the supporters group, by coincidence the new banners were stitched up by the daughter of one of the makers of the original banners.
