HTB At The Movies

During September 1998 Haslemere Town Band were recorded and filmed as an integral part of a short film entitled 'Paddington Station'. Recording took place under St Pancras Station on two consecutive Saturdays and a Sunday. The band appear in the background for most of the scenes in the film and  there are also several close ups.  Anyone from the band who came along to watch got roped into appearing as unpaid extras, this included the coach driver on the first day. He then altered his shifts to ensure that he appeared in the second part as well.

The band were also recorded, in our band room, for a safe recording playing the same pieces that were played during the film. The pieces played were

On the second Saturday, disaster struck, the bottom of the coach fell out (see picture) whilst about 20 minutes from St Pancras. The band obtained a rope and tied the bottom of the coach on, and we were able to continue.

It is hoped that the film will appear on Channel 4 and BBC1 as part of their short film series.
