The band has just returned from an exhausting weekend in Haslemere's twin town of Bernay, France. The weekend started with an overnight ferry crossing from Portsmouth to L'Harve followed by a coach trip of a couple of hours arriving in Bernay just in time for breakfast on Saturday . We then got a couple of hours to look around Bernay before it was time for lunch in a restaurant beside the river. Another couple of hours for shopping and it was time for the pre concert meal. The concert was the highlight of the trip given in L'Abbatiale, an 11th Century Abbey in the heart of Bernay. This was followed by a post concert snack and several drinks in the bar. Sunday morning was a short concert in the covered market which was rather suddenly curtailed when the church (which was about 10 yards away) suddenly started ringing the bells. Another hour and yes another meal, our last before heading for the ferry and home.
