Good result for HTB at SCABA Autumn Contest

On 13th October the Band entered the SCABA Autumn Contest which, as usual, was held at Folkestone. We came 6th out of 11 but 4 of the bands that beat us were graded 3rd section nationally and so we effectively came 2nd out of 7 bands.

We played Little Suite for Brass No.1 by Malcolm Arnold. In the week before the contest June Wright, the Band's Flugel horn player broke her arm and so was converted to a one-armed percussionist for the contest, playing maracas (well maraca!) and cymbal.

The players were:

Conductor Graham Wade
Principal Cornet Claire Wade
Solo Cornets  David Mott Steve (Harry) Hubbard
Soprano/ Repiano/ Flugel Trevor Ingram Graham Ingram
2nd Cornets Jean Turner
3rd Cornets Tony Cooper Denys Vaughan

Baritones Susan Bicknell Charles Woodhatch
Trombones Peter Walmsley Rose Neilson Nan Oatway
Euphoniums Stephen Bicknell Philip Rowden
