On 21st April 2002 the band competed in the Southern Counties Amateur Bands Associations (SCABA) spring contest at Hove. The band produced a good performance but unfortunately marred by some tuning problems and some ensemble playing that wasn't quite together.
We played Westward Ho! in the march contest and came 6th out of 9 and "Variations on Laudate Dominum" for the test piece where we also came 6th out of 9.
The horn section of June Wright, Bryony Dyer, John Bloomfield and Marianne O'Brien won the award for the best Horn Section.
