Good result at London & Southern Counties regional contest

On 20^th March 2004 the band competed in the London and Southern Counties region of the Boosey & Hawkes National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain and came 5th out of 20.

This was a very good result considering that we were several players short and had several problems:

Jeannie Goode and Peter Sauter were unable to play due to an engagement with Farnham
Claire Wade is pregnant and so Steve and Winston played the solos.
Marianne O'Brien took longer than expected to recover from an operation so Tony Cooper moved from Cornet to Horn.
Grahame Robinson due to illness and work commitments was unable to attend rehearsals and the contest.
Christopher Hansford was taken very ill the day before the contest and couldn't compete.

Looking at the band compared to last year there were 10 changes from last year.
